For the third consecutive game, NHL action on NBC failed to draw at least 1% of U.S. TV homes.
Last Sunday’s Bruins/Red Wings NHL game earned a 0.8 final rating on NBC, up a tick from Flyers/Rangers in 2009 (0.7). There was no telecast on the comparable date last year, due to the Winter Olympics.
So far this season, three of the four NHL telecasts on NBC have failed to draw at least a 1.0 rating, with the lone exception being the January 1 Winter Classic (PIT/WSH: 2.3).
For some perspective, four of the net’s first five telecasts last season (includes the Winter Classic) drew at least a 1.0.
Locally, the game drew a 7.3 in Detroit and a 2.1 in Boston.
