Viewership increased by double-digits for the opening night of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Versus.
Versus averaged 534,000 viewers for coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs Wednesday night, up 12% from last year, and the network’s best start to the postseason since acquiring NHL rights in the 2005-06 season.
In particular, the Red Wings’ Game 1 win over the Coyotes earned a 0.3 U.S. rating and 484,000 viewers. That was followed by nearly one-hour of joined-in-progress coverage of Rangers/Capitals Game 1, which drew a 0.4 and 673,000 viewers.
In the nightcap, the defending champion Blackhawks’ loss to the Canucks earned a 0.3 and 540,000 viewers.
