Last year’s Stanley Cup finalists earned the highest ratings of the four NHL teams on Comcast SportsNet this season.
Comcast SportsNet Chicago earned a 2.78 rating for Blackhawks telecasts during the 2010-11 regular season, up 14% from last year (2.44), and up 121% from 2008-09 (1.26). This marks the highest average rating ever for the Blackhawks on a Chicago RSN.
In a reversal of last year’s results, the Blackhawks finished behind their NBA counterparts, the Bulls (4.50).
Over in Philadelphia, the Flyers averaged a 2.37 rating on CSN Philadelphia, up 7% from last year (2.21). As is now typical, the Flyers outrated the Sixers (1.59) in Philadelphia.
The Capitals also had an increase this season, as their games averaged a 1.78 rating on CSN Mid-Atlantic and CSN+, up 12% from last year (1.59), up 66% from 2008-09 (1.07), and a network record.
Like the Flyers, the Capitals outdrew their NBA competitors, the Wizards (1.12).
The Sharks were the lone weak link. Their games averaged a 0.81 on CSN California, down 27% from last year (1.11). The Sharks finished well behind the Warriors on CSN Bay Area (1.45).
