With none of the three series having much appeal to casual viewers, NBA playoff ratings declined across-the-board on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s Pelicans-Trail Blazers NBA Playoffs Game 2 scored a 1.9 rating and 2.91 million viewers on TNT, off a tick in ratings and 3% in viewership from last year (Jazz-Clippers: 2.0, 3.00M) and flat and down 4% respectively compared to 2016 (Grizzlies-Spurs: 1.9, 3.04M).
The Pelicans’ win was the most-watched game on a down night for the playoffs. All three games posted a decline from last year.
Earlier in the night, Bucks-Celtics Game 2 had a 1.9 and 2.88 million — down 14% in ratings and 15% in viewership from last year (Bulls-Celtics: 2.2, 3.4M) but up 58% and 50% respectively from 2016 (Celtics-Hawks: 1.2, 1.9M).
Over on NBA TV, Game 2 of Wizards-Raptors had a 0.26 and 416,000 (-23%).
For the night, Pelicans-Blazers tied for third among all television programs in adults 18-49 (1.3). It trailed ABC’s reanimated “Roseanne” (3.4) and NBC’s “The Voice” (1.5) and tied ABC’s “Alex Inc.”
The game ranked second in adults 18-34, its 1.2 trailing only “Roseanne” (1.9).
Previously, the NBA Playoffs ranked second in adults 18-49 on Sunday and Monday and took top honors on low-rated Saturday.
