Week 2 college football ratings were so-so in the metered markets, with ESPN’s Clemson-Auburn game easily the strongest draw.
Saturday’s Clemson-Texas A&M college football game earned a 3.0 overnight rating on ESPN, up 50% from Clemson-Auburn last year.
The Tigers’ win, which peaked at a 4.0 from 10:30-10:45 PM ET, was the top college football game of a quiet weekend.
Ranking a distant second, CBS drew a 2.4 for Georgia-South Carolina. UCLA-Oklahoma was not far behind, with a 2.3 on FOX. Last year’s comparable figures were not available.
Rounding out the top five, ABC drew a 2.1 for Colorado-Nebraska (-22%) and a mere 2.0 for Penn State-Pittsburgh on Saturday Night Football (-62%). The latter game tied the lowest Saturday Night Football overnight in five years (2013 Notre Dame-Pittsburgh: 1.9). The network’s Noon ET regional window had a 1.9 (-32%).
As for the remaining windows, NBC drew a 1.8 for Ball State-Notre Dame; FOX drew a 1.8 for USC-Stanford and a 1.2 for Iowa State-Oklahoma; ESPN scored a 1.6 for Michigan State-Arizona State (+100%).
