ABC hit multiple college football season-lows last weekend.
Oklahoma-Texas Tech scored a 1.9 rating and 3.14 million viewers on ABC last weekend, up 6% in ratings and 4% in viewership from last year (Virginia Tech-Miami: 1.8, 3.01M) but down 32% and 37% respectively from 2016 (Nebraska-Ohio State: 2.8, 4.97M).
The Sooners’ high-scoring win ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched primetime game on ABC this season.
The season-low is no surprise given the competition. The competing Alabama-LSU game on CBS had a 6.6 and 11.54 million, both season-highs, and up 69% and 72% respectively from last year. ESPN’s competing Notre Dame-Northwestern game also beat ABC Saturday night, with a 1.9 and 3.29 million.
ABC also hit season-lows earlier in the day, with its two lowest rated and least-watched windows regardless of timeslot.
Louisville-Clemson had a 1.1 (-39%) and 1.55 million (-45%) in the Noon ET window, setting a season-low that was broken immediately afterward by Florida State-N.C. State — which had a 0.9 (-50%) and 1.35 million (-52%).
Last week’s results continued a sluggish season for ABC. Of the network’s 31 windows, 20 have posted declines in ratings and viewership.
