Noon ET is primetime for college football on FOX.
Last Saturday’s Ohio State-Michigan State college football game earned a 3.3 rating and 5.19 million viewers on FOX, up 38% in ratings and 39% in viewership from the same matchup last year (2.4, 3.73M). There was no comparable Noon ET game on FOX in 2016.
The Buckeyes’ win ranks third in ratings and viewership among games on FOX this season, behind a pair of games last month — Michigan-Michigan State (3.4, 5.42M) and Texas-Oklahoma (3.5, 5.61M).
It also ranks third among Noon ET games this season, with FOX airing each of the top four. Keep in mind FOX has aired only six Noon (or 12:30) games all season.
Saturday’s game tied the highest college football rating of the weekend, matching Mississippi State-Alabama on CBS later in the day. It trailed the SEC game in viewership.
Later in the day, Northwestern-Iowa had a 1.6 (+52%) and 2.64 million (+61%) and Texas-Texas Tech a 1.6 (-11%) and 2.68 million (-9%). The comparable games last year were USC-Colorado (1.1, 1.64M) and TCU-Oklahoma (1.8, 2.96M), respectively.
Over on FS1, TCU-West Virginia had a 0.39 (flat) and 728,000 (+10%) and Baylor-Iowa State a 0.24 and 363,000.
