In a deal that the NHL says will “streamline national U.S. NHL media sales for the next five years,” NBC Sports Group has agreed to sell advertising for the NHL’s television, online and mobile platforms.
The NHL and NBC have reached an agreement under which NBC Sports Group will handle all media sales for the NHL’s national platforms, including NBC, Versus, NHL Network and NHL.com.
The deal, which runs through the 2015-16 season, excludes the NHL’s official marketing partners.
An NBC Sports official touted the convenience for advertisers, who will now be able to “purchase national network television, cable television and digital media for one major sports property in only one place” (NHL, 7/11).
