Former NBC Sports Group Chairman Dick Ebersol will return to the company in a smaller role.
Ebersol will serve as a special advisor to current NBC Sports Group chairman Mark Lazarus, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
Ebersol led the NBC Sports division from 1989 to his resignation earlier this year.
In his new role, Ebersol will “contribute ideas to Lazarus about production of the NFL games this season and the London Olympics” (New York Times, 8/30).
Ebersol, who is “expected to attend” the London Games, will also reportedly work with the production teams for both Sunday Night Football and the Olympics.
