Shortened due to Hurricane Irene, the first leg of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup was a dud in the ratings.
The third (and final) round of The Barclays earned a 1.1 final rating and 1.542 million viewers on CBS last Saturday, down 35% in ratings and viewership from third round action last year (1.7, 2.373M), and down 42% and 44%, respectively, from third round coverage in 2009 (1.9, 2.748M).
The event concluded after the third round due to Hurricane Irene.
On Sunday, rained out coverage of the event drew a 0.7 and 1.055 million viewers. By comparison, final round coverage last year drew a 2.1 and 2.929 million viewers, and final round coverage in 2009 drew a 3.2 and 4.641 million.
Both telecasts were outdrawn by the Little League World Series on ABC (three games) and Sunday’s coverage of the Track & Field World Championships on NBC.
