It was not nearly the draw of Cardinals/Phillies or Tigers/Yankees, but the fifth and deciding game of the Brewers/Diamondbacks series scored good enough numbers Friday afternoon.
The Brewers’ Game 5 win over the Diamondbacks earned a 3.0 U.S. rating and 4.592 million viewers on TBS Friday afternoon. There were no comparable games last year or in 2009.
Friday’s game ranks as the lowest rated Division Series Game 5 since 2002 (MIN/OAK: 2.4, ABC Family). The previous low was a 4.1 for last year’s Rangers/Rays Game 5.
Though not particularly impressive compared to previous years, the numbers for Game 5 are well above previous games in the series. Games 1, 2 and 3 each failed to attract at least 2% of U.S. TV homes, though it should be pointed out that two of those games aired opposite other postseason action.
Locally, Game 5 earned a 25.5 rating in Milwaukee (up 55% from Game 4) and a 13.2 in Phoenix (up 10% from Game 4).
