From this week’s episode of the Sports Media Watch Podcast, Fox Sports and SRX racing broadcaster Lindsay Czarniak (formerly with ESPN and NBC) joined Jon and T.J. Among other things, she shares how her love for motorsports led her to break into sports broadcasting and eventually, network TV.
In the below excerpt, Czarniak explains racing’s unique appeal:
When you’re there in person at Daytona, it gives you chills the moment you see it … You see it, you hear it, you smell it, and you feel the wind… It happens to me even before I get in a track when you go down that tunnel. When you’re in the tunnel, you are getting ready to go under and come up into the infield of the race track. That’s where it’s like, ‘Whoa.’
Lindsay also describes her role on the sidelines for FOX NFL coverage and she and T.J. recount a bizarre/crazy story of both covering the Tampa Bay Buccaneers first home game of 2020 in the pandemic season with an empty stadium for Tom Brady’s opening game as a Buc.
Plus, she talks about juggling motherhood and a family with her equally famous husband Craig Melvin, of NBC’s “Today Show,” and her final years with ESPN.
