Free from competition from the American League Championship Series, Thursday’s Brewers/Cardinals Game 4 scored easily the best numbers of the series.
The Brewers’ Game 4 win over the Cardinals earned a 3.7 U.S. rating and 5.650 million viewers on TBS Thursday night, down 41% in ratings and 43% in viewership from Game 4 of last year’s ALCS on TBS (TEX/NYY: 6.3, 9.846M), and actually up 9% and 0.1%, respectively, from Game 4 of the 2009 NLCS on TBS (LAD/PHI: 3.4, 5.644M).
Last year’s game aired on a Tuesday night; the 2009 game aired on a Monday night.
Compared to Game 4 of last year’s NLCS on FOX (PHI/SF: 5.7, 9.274M), which aired on a Wednesday night, Thursday’s game was down 35% and 39%, respectively.
Game 4 ranks as easily the highest rated and most-viewed game of the Brewers/Cardinals series, the first three games of which ranked among the five least-viewed League Championship Series games in history.
Moreover, the game ranks as the third-most viewed National League Championship Series telecast ever on cable (three series, thirteen telecasts), behind only Games 1 and 5 of the 2009 Phillies/Dodgers series.
Through four games, the NLCS on TBS is averaging a 2.6 U.S. rating and 4.054 million viewers, down 48% in ratings and 49% in viewership from last year’s ALCS on TBS (TEX/NYY: 5.0, 8.014M), and down 26% and 27%, respectively, from 2009 NLCS on TBS (PHI/LAD: 3.5, 5.569M).
The 2007 Rockies/Diamondbacks NLCS on TBS, the lowest rated and least-viewed League Championship Series in history, averaged a 2.8 and 4.294 million viewers for four games.
