Breaking down the Chiefs schedule
The NFL’s preeminent dynasty had a rare down year last season, missing the playoffs and losing Patrick Mahomes to a torn ACL. Despite what would usually be a year-long injury, Mahomes is expected to return for the start of the new season as Kansas City looks to return to title contention.
Despite last year’s lull, the Chiefs remain one of the biggest draws in the NFL, and will remain regulars on the national television slate. Kansas City opens the season with back-to-back primetime games, first against the Broncos on “Monday Night Football” and then the Colts on “Sunday Night Football.” Additional primetime games include “SNF” against the defending champion Seahawks in Week 7, Thanksgiving night against the rival Bills in Week 12, the Rams on “Thursday Night Football” the following week, and the Patriots on “MNF” in Week 15. That is in addition to the usual slate of marquee 4:25 PM ET matchups, including against the Broncos in Week 8 and 49ers in Week 16.
To say the least, the networks expect the Chiefs to return to playoff contention.
