Breaking down the Patriots schedule
After a surprise trip to the Super Bowl this season, the Patriots and Drake Maye will try to back up last year’s results. While the controversy surrounding head coach Mike Vrabel overshadowed all other offseason business, New England added A.J. Brown in a trade with the Eagles.
The Patriots will be the first Super Bowl loser to open the season against the defending champions since 2016 as they face the Seahawks in the Week 1 “Kickoff Game.” From there, they play five-straight 1 PM ET games before their next primetime matchup, against the Bears on “Thursday Night Football.”
New England has four other primetime games, all backloaded in the final weeks of the season — Week 12 against the Chargers (“Sunday Night Football”), Week 14 against the Vikings (“Thursday Night Football”) and a Week 15 matchup with the Chiefs (“Monday Night Football”). They also have a standalone international game against the Lions in Munich, which in a rarity will air on FOX rather than NFL Network.
