Breaking down the 49ers schedule
After a down year in 2024, Brock Purdy and the 49ers returned to postseason play in 2025, upsetting the defending champion Eagles before falling to the eventual champion Seahawks in the Divisional Round. San Francisco is perhaps the most successful team in this decade not to have won a Super Bowl, losing two heartbreakers to Kansas City in the “big game” four years apart in 2020 and 2024. Will they get another shot this year?
The 49ers begin their season with an immediate test, facing the Rams in a Week 1 International Series game from Australia on Netflix. That is one of five primetime games this season, including “Monday Night Football” against Washington in Week 6, “Sunday Night Football” against the Vikings in Week 11, “Thursday Night Football” against the Chargers in Week 15, and a return to “SNF” against the Eagles in Week 17. San Francisco also has several marquee matchups in the 4:25 PM ET “national window,” including against the Broncos in Week 4 and Seahawks in Week 5, the Cowboys in Week 10, the Seahawks again in Week 12, the Rams in Week 14 and the Chiefs in Week 16.
