Fox Sports 1 Struggles to Draw Viewers in Week One

The switch from Speed Channel to Fox Sports 1 hardly made a difference in the ratings last week.

Fox Sports 1 averaged 81,000 total-day viewers last week, according to Variety, actually down 19% from what Speed Channel averaged in the comparable week last year (100K). In primetime, FS1 averaged 161,000 viewers — up just 2% over last year on Speed (158K).

In primetime, FS1 finished well behind ESPN (2.2M) and ESPN2 (473K) last week. Keep in mind ESPN had NFL and Major League Baseball games in primetime, while FS1 had to rely on lesser draws such as the UFC and boxing.

NFL Network (383K) and MLB Network (193K) also outdrew Fox Sports 1 in primetime last week, according to data obtained by Variety. Despite the slow start, Fox Sports 1 was able to outdraw NBC Sports Network (104K).

A colossal waste of money. Only place these crappy networks are on is in sports bars where no one can hear what is being said. ESPN sucks too, as do NBCSN and CBSSN
