I was supposed to write another article about people bashing the NBA, but quite frankly, I got tired of reading unadulterated crap. However, I still found this wonderfully intelligent article:
So, the NBA players are whining about the technical fouls and fines being levied for their complaining about foul calls and such.
Their union is threatening legal action.
I have one word in reply: wahhhhh!
This was a move that was long ? and I do mean long ? overdue. The NBA allowed these crybabies to get away with this boorish behavior for far too long.
Think about it. Remember how all these professional athletes say blarney like they just want the same rights as other employees in America, etc. How many of us could get away with berating a company official, a judge, an arbitrator or some such personage? How fast can you say unemployment line? Call the cops? Throw ?em in jail?
Some are complaining because, well, the fans went to see Carmelo Anthony and he got ejected after getting two technicals. I have a simple suggestion to Mr. Anthony; let the officials referee and you play the game.
I have a further suggestion to the NBA; raise the fines. With the ridiculous salaries being paid these prima donnas, make the fines at least somewhat dent the wallets.
The NBA needs to continue to do this because in the long run, it will make for a better game. Force players to adjust and they will; they can still be showman without being a horse?s hind end.
What these defenders of the players don?t realize is how this behavior spills down into the lower ranks. I think we all see it in the college ranks and even some in the high schools.
I also might be wrong here but I believe this was part of the collective bargaining agreement ? at least as far as granting David Stern broad powers to clean up the game.
I applaud him. I for one am tired of these guys acting like spoiled brats if they don?t get every call. Are you sickened by the reaction to a foul call? If you ask these guys, they have probably never committed a foul in their lives but Heaven forbid someone does that to them.

Let’s run the “I-Hate-The-NBA” talking points meter:
- The players are whiners/crybabies
- The players are millionaire prima donnas
- The players get away with more than Joe-Schmo ever could
- The players are hurting the kids
Amazingly original, Jim. And there was a ‘boorish’ in there for good measure. Because, as we all know, these players are whining, lazy, overpaid, kid-endangering asses. Nevermind the constant generalizations or the fact that players are now being teed up for grimacing. Nevermind the fact that bad referees are now given a blank check to act out vendettas when they themselves are doing a God-awful job of calling the game.
We must get these overpaid prima donnas to shut up. To surrender. They must bow to our rule, because we’re the fans and we’re the owners and we’re the coaches and we should have the power.
But what do the fans, owners and coaches have in common? And what makes them different than the players?
Oh. Right. That.
