- CBS News had a presence at Super Bowl XLI; Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer conducted his show from Miami, while CBS Evening News host Katie Couric joined “The NFL Today” crew during the pregame. That might have something to do with the fact that Sean MacManus runs both the CBS News and CBS Sports divisions.
- Being at the Super Bowl was a casualty of Michael Wilbon’s new ESPN deal; after staying in Miami for the balance of the week, he traveled to Cleveland on Sunday for ABC’s NBA game — where he was only used for one small three minute segment. On PTI today, he revealed that he watched the Super Bowl (featuring his beloved Bears) on television.
- FOX has nearly sold out its ad space for the Daytona 500; “[s]pots for the race … have sold for as much as $500,000 per 30-second unit, with the average spot going for between $350,000 and $400,000.”
- Finally, Saturday’s “Video of the Day”, since removed from YouTube, was of Conan O’Brien beating Serena Williams at tennis on the Nintendo Wii. Apparently, NBC Universal doesn’t like the idea of people being able to watch even one minute of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
