Game 3 of the World Series was the big fish in a small pond on Saturday night.
The game, which the Red Sox won 10-5, was easily the most watched event of the night, drawing 13 million viewers, according to preliminary numbers. The 13 million would mark a 2% increase over the lone Saturday night World Series game last year, should the number hold.
More than likely, Game 3 will finish with the lowest audience of the entire 2007 World Series. Games 1 and 2 of the Red Sox/Rockies series both averaged 16.9 million viewers.
Compared to its competition on Saturday night, Red Sox/Rockies Game 3 won no-contest. The 13 million viewers FOX averaged for the night easily outpaced the 7.3 million viewers CBS and ABC both averaged. ABC drew 7.3 million viewers for its coverage of Saturday Night Football, according to preliminary numbers; the game between Ohio State and Penn State averaged a 2.5/8 rating among adults 18-49, second only to Red Sox/Rockies.
