The BCS continues to put up mediocre numbers on FOX.
The Orange Bowl between Kansas and Virginia Tech, so far the only close BCS game, averaged 11.3 million viewers in prime time on FOX, according to preliminary numbers. The 11.3 million viewers marks a 6% increase from the 10.7 million viewers for the 2007 Orange Bowl between Louisville and Wake Forest. The ’07 Orange Bowl is tied for the lowest rated BCS game of all-time.
Compared to the game on the comparable date last year, the 11.3 million viewers marks a 22% decline from the 14.4 million viewers the ’07 Sugar Bowl averaged in prime time.
FOX won the night in total viewers, and tied NBC in the adults 18-49 demographic. During the 9:00 PM hour, Celebrity Apprentice on NBC finished ahead of the game, drawing a 4.5 among adults 18-49, versus a 4.1 for the Orange Bowl.
