ESPN is beefing up its hockey coverage with the addition of a Canadian broadcasting icon.
Hockey Night in Canada personality Don Cherry will make “make regular appearances on ESPN” during the NHL’s Conference Finals, reports the Toronto Globe and Mail.
Cherry, who served as a guest analyst during NBC’s coverage of last year’s Stanley Cup Finals, will do live segments on SportsCenter from the site of the Penguins/Flyers series. Cherry is also expected to provide analysis during the Stanley Cup Finals.
Cherry figures to play a fairly prominent role in ESPN’s NHL coverage, as the network has only one hockey analyst — Barry Melrose.
