The Olympics sent baseball on FOX into NHL/IRL territory.
FOX drew a 1.1/3 final rating for regional Major League Baseball coverage last Saturday, down 63% from a 3.0/8 on the comparable weekend last year. The 1.1 rating is the lowest of the season by far, and may be the lowest ever for Major League Baseball on broadcast television.
Last September, an MLB on FOX telecast drew a 1.2 rating. To put the 1.1 rating in perspective, the lowest rated NBA game on broadcast drew a 1.0 (Suns/Kings, 3/25/07, ABC).
Baseball on FOX did finish ahead of the final round of the Wyndham Championship on CBS (0.9/2) and the Little League World Series on ABC (0.5/1 on Saturday and 0.6/1 on Sunday).
Through 20 weeks, FOX is averaging a 2.1 rating for MLB telecasts, down 13% from a 2.4 last year.
