It appears ABC’s second season of NASCAR coverage will very much resemble the first.
The first race in the Chase for the Nextel Cup saw increased ratings from last year, but the numbers were still disappointing. The Sylvania 300 drew a 3.1 overnight rating on ABC Sunday, up 11% from a 2.8 for the same race in ’07.
The 3.1 overnight is the third lowest for a NASCAR race on broadcast television in the past four years, ahead of two races on ABC last year.
