Two storied NFL franchises made mince meat out of the 60th Annual Emmy Awards.
NBC drew a potent 14.4/22 overnight rating for coverage of Cowboys/Packers on Sunday night, up 5% from a 13.7/23 for Cowboys/Bears last year, and 52% higher than the 9.5/15 for ABC’s coverage of the Emmys.
The 14.4 overnight is the fourth highest ever for a Sunday Night Football telecast, and was the best number for any NFL game this weekend — marking the first time this season NBC aired the highest rated NFL telecast.
Ratings peaked from 9-10 PM with a 15.4/23. In Milwaukee, the game drew a 41.8/57, the top mark among local markets. Dallas finished second with a 38.6/56. San Antonio finished third with a 27.3/38, followed by Austin, with a 24.7/36.
In New York, where the Yankees were playing their last game at Yankee Stadium, Cowboys/Packers drew a 7.8/12, second-lowest among major metered markets. Boston finished last, with a 7.4/12.
