- No Tom Brady, no problem. CBS drew a 15.5/30 final rating for Jets/Patriots Sunday evening, up 44% from a 10.8/21 for the comparable Chiefs/Bears game in ’07. The game averaged 25.4 million viewers.
- CBS was not the only network to see big ratings for football over the weekend. The college football clash between Ohio State and USC drew a 7.0/13 final rating on ABC Saturday night, up 56% from a 4.5/9 for the comparable USC/Nebraska game last year. The 7.0 makes Ohio State/USC the highest rated regular season college football game since November of 2006. The game averaged 11.9 million viewers, making it the most viewed non-Olympics, non-NFL Saturday night program since the NCAA Tournament.
- The WNBA enters the playoffs on a relatively high note. During the regular season, games on ESPN2 averaged a 0.2 rating, up 16% from last year. ESPN2 saw big increases in key demographics, as ratings were up 71% among women 18-34 and 28% among men 18-34. Telecasts on ABC averaged a 0.5 rating, even with last year. Overall, nationally televised games on ABC and ESPN2 averaged a 0.3 rating and 413,000 viewers, up 19% in both ratings and viewership from last year.
