For the second straight week, Saturday Night Football drew strong numbers on ABC.
Texas Tech’s upset victory over then #1 Texas drew a 7.5/14 rating and 12.2 million viewers on ABC Saturday night, up 83% and 89% from a 4.1/8 and 6.5 million for comparable regional action last year.
The 7.5 rating is the highest of the season so far for a college football game, surpassing the previous high of 7.0 for Ohio State/USC in September. The 7.5 is also the seventh-highest rating ever for a regular season college football game on ABC.
From 11:45-11:58 PM, the game drew a 9.7 rating and a stellar 19 share. During the 11 PM hour, ABC drew a 9.2 rating.
So far this season, Saturday Night Football is averaging a 4.8 rating, up 33% from a 3.6 through the comparable date last year. Overall, college football games on ABC and ESPN are averaging ratings of 4.0 and 2.1, up 11% and 5%, respectively, from last year.
