Not surprisingly, ratings for the Capital One Bowl dropped from last year’s Michigan/Florida matchup.
Michigan State/Georgia drew a 7.2 overnight rating on ABC Thursday afternoon, down 27% from a 9.9 for last year’s Michigan/Florida game, but still the highest overnight rating of any non-BCS bowl game.
The 7.2 overnight trounced its competition, beating the 4.3/8 for the Gator Bowl by 67%, and the 2.9/6 for the NHL Winter Classic by 148%. (The overnight rating for the Outback Bowl, which also aired opposite the Capital One Bowl, is unavailable).
