NFL Wild Card coverage on FOX drew the largest audience of the week for any program, but NBC’s Wild Card game took the crown in prime time.
The Eagles’ win over the Vikings drew a 17.6/30 final rating and 30.0 million viewers on FOX last Sunday, making it the highest rated, most viewed television program of the week. Eagles/Vikings was up 5% in ratings and 13% in viewership from a 16.7 and 26.3 million for the Titans/Chargers game in the comparable timeslot last year.
Additionally, the 17.6 rating is the highest for an NFL Wild Card game since Giants/Eagles drew an 18.2 in ’07.
In prime time, NBC’s Colts/Chargers game was the highest rated, most viewed program of the week. The Chargers’ overtime victory drew a 16.1/27 final rating and 27.8 million viewers on NBC Saturday night, up 7% and 8% from a 15.0/25 and 25.7 million for last year’s comparable Jaguars/Steelers tilt.
The 16.1 rating is the second-highest ever for an NFL game on NBC, behind a 16.4 for a Cowboys/Seahawks Wild Card game in 2007.
