Upon further review, Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game was the highest rated and most viewed in four years.
TNT drew a 4.5 rating and 7.6 million viewers for the 2009 NBA All Star Game, up 18% and 21% from a 3.8 and 6.3 million for last year’s game. The game finishes as the highest rated, most viewed NBA All-Star Game since 2005, and the third-best since TNT began airing the game in 2003.
Earlier reports had the All Star Game drawing a 4.1 rating and 6.9 million viewers.
The 7.6 million viewers compares favorably to the recent NFL Pro Bowl, which drew 8.8 million viewers on broadcast. Additionally, the game beat the Daytona 500 on FOX in the key adults 18-34 and men 18-34 demographics.
The All Star Game was easily the most viewed television program of the week on cable, followed by NBA All Star Saturday Night and the NBA All-Star Postgame.
