Sports Illustrated reports that Yankees star Alex Rodriguez tested positive for anabolic steroids in 2003. According to the article, Rodriguez, who played for the Texas Rangers at the time of the positive test, “tested positive for two anabolic steroids … [and his] name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball’s ’03 survey testing.”
This information was told to SI by four independent sources. Additionally, sources have confirmed to ESPN that “Rodriguez was aware” of the positive test.
When contacted by an SI reporter, Rodriguez “declined to discuss his 2003 test results,” saying “You’ll have to talk to the union …I’m not saying anything.”
