Less than two weeks into the season, the Major League Baseball world has experienced another loss.
Hall of Fame Philadelphia Phillies play-by-play voice Harry Kalas died on Monday at the age of 73. Kalas was found unconscious in the press box at Nationals Park in Washington, where he had been preparing for Monday night’s Phillies/Nationals game.
Kalas had been broadcasting Phillies telecasts for 38 years. In 2006, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Kalas also served as a narrator for NFL Films.
Kalas’ death comes less than a week after MLB pitcher Nick Adenhart died in a car crash at age 22, and months after Braves play-by-play voice Skip Caray passed away.
