The Dallas Cowboys’ first regular season game at their new stadium will be a prime time affair.
The Cowboys’ Week 2 home game against the Giants will be televised by NBC in prime time, according to the newly released NFL schedule. The game will be the first regular season tilt at the new Cowboys stadium; NBC, CBS, FOX and ESPN had each expressed interest in televising the game.
Giants/Cowboys will be one of 16 prime time NFL telecasts on NBC in 2009. Among the highlights of NBC’s schedule: three appearances each by marquee teams like the Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, Bears and Colts. The Cardinals will make two appearances, as will the Patriots and Titans.
Flexible scheduling will begin in Week 11 of the season (November 22) and will continue through the end of the season.
NBC’s NFL schedule begins with the Titans/Steelers kickoff game on Thursday, September 10. The Sunday night schedule starts with Bears/Packers on September 13.
