The NHL heads into the Stanley Cup Finals with ratings up on its U.S. television partners NBC and Versus.
Eight Stanley Cup Playoff telecasts averaged a 1.1 rating on NBC, up 22% from a 0.9 for nine telecasts last year, and the highest average for the Stanley Cup Playoffs on broadcast since NBC averaged the same rating in ’06.
Last Sunday’s Red Wings/Blackhawks Game 4 drew a 1.3/3 final rating on NBC, down 19% from a 1.6/4 for Game 1 of the same series the previous Sunday. There was no game on the comparable date last year.
All but two playoff games on NBC drew at least a 1.0 rating. The only games to dip below a 1.0 came from the Capitals/Rangers first round series.
