FOX drew good numbers for last Saturday’s Red Sox/Yankees tilt.
The Yankees’ win over the Red Sox last Saturday afternoon drew a 2.7/7 final rating and 4.0 million viewers on FOX, up 29% in ratings and 30% in viewers from a 2.1/5 and 3.1 million for regional coverage on the comparable date last year.
The 2.7 rating ties a Yankees/Red Sox game from April as the highest rating of the season for an MLB telecast on FOX. Additionally, this marks only the 6th time this season that FOX has drawn at least a 2.0 rating for MLB coverage.
This marks the second time this season that FOX and ESPN have aired Yankees/Red Sox games back-to-back on Saturdays and Sundays; both times, ESPN has drawn the higher rating.
Through August 8, FOX is averaging a 1.9 rating for 18 MLB telecasts, down 14% from a 2.2 through the comparable date in ’08 (19 telecasts), and down 21% from a 2.4 through the same point in ’07 (19 telecasts).
