- Last Wednesday’s USA/Mexico World Cup Qualifying match drew 385,000 viewers on mun2, making it the most watched program in the history of the network. To put that in perspective, ESPN2 drew 1.2 million viewers for a USA/Mexico World Cup Qualifier earlier in the year. mun2 sister network Telemundo drew 4.3 million viewers for the match.
- Even in the preseason, the Dallas Cowboys attract a big audience. The Cowboys’ preseason opener against the Raiders last Thursday drew a 14.8/30 rating in Dallas, up 16% from a 12.8/24 for the first preseason game last year. To put that in perspective, the Mavericks/Nuggets NBA playoff series averaged a 9.7 on TNT and ESPN in Dallas, and the Stars’ ’07 Western Conference Final against the Red Wings averaged a 2.4 on NBC and Versus.
- NBC drew pedestrian results for Olympic sports over the weekend. The Track & Field World Championships drew a 1.1/3 overnight on Saturday and a 1.5/4 on Sunday. Meanwhile, coverage of the Visa Gymnastics Championships drew a 0.9/2 on Saturday afternoon and a 1.9/4 on Saturday night.
Netflix officially announces expanded NFL deal
The NFL has officially reached a new deal with Netflix that will see the streamer bookend the season.
