Pushed to a Monday afternoon for the second straight year, ratings were not surprisingly below average for the men’s final of the U.S. Open.
The Del Potro/Federer U.S. Open men’s final drew a 2.7/6 overnight rating on CBS late Monday afternoon, up 8% from a 2.5/6 for Federer/Murray in a similar timeslot last year, but down 36% from a 4.2/8 for Federer/Djokovic on a Sunday afternoon in ’07.
This marks the second-lowest overnight of the decade for the men’s final of the U.S. Open.
The 2.7 for the Del Potro/Federer final could not match the 3.2 for the Federer/Djokovic semifinal played the previous day. That match had the benefit of airing on a Sunday afternoon, with a powerful NFL lead-in.
