Sunday’s NFL doubleheader on CBS fumbled in the ratings.
Both NFL telecasts on CBS last week saw declines in ratings and viewership. Late window coverage, featuring Steelers/Bengals, drew a 10.9 rating and 18.2 million viewers — down 9% and 6%, respectively, from Steelers/Eagles last year (12.0, 19.2 mil).
Earlier in the day, regional coverage featuring Jets/Titans drew a mere 6.8 rating and 11.1 million viewers, down 16% and 11%, respectively, from comparable regional coverage on CBS last year (8.1, 12.4 mil).
The 6.8 rating is the lowest of the season for any NFL telecast (on broadcast or cable), below the previous low of 7.1 for regional coverage on CBS during Week 1.
Through Week 3, CBS is averaging a 9.6 rating for NFL coverage, down 9% from a 10.6 through the same point last year.
