CBS is off to its best start for college football coverage since 1996.
Last Saturday’s Arkansas/Florida game drew a 4.3 rating and 6.8 million viewers on CBS. Florida’s win ranks as the second-most viewed college football game of the season on CBS, behind only a primetime Florida/LSU matchup.
So far this season, CBS is averaging a 3.9/9 rating for college football coverage, up 44% from a 2.7/6 through the comparable point last year. This marks the highest average for college football on CBS at this point in the season since ’96.
The SEC on CBS trails college football on ABC by a mere tenth of a ratings point (4.0 to 3.9), the smallest gap between ABC and CBS since ’96.
