The NFL on FOX continued its hot start during Week 4.
Last Sunday’s Cowboys/Broncos game drew a 13.1/25 rating and 22 million viewers on FOX, up slightly from a 13.0/25 and 21.2 million for Washington/Cowboys during Week 4 last year. Cowboys/Broncos was the most-viewed NFL telecast of the week, edging Packers/Vikings on Monday Night Football (21.8 million).
Cowboys/Broncos ranks as the fourth most-viewed NFL telecast of the season, behind Washington/Giants in Week 1 (25.1 mil), Giants/Cowboys in Week 2 (24.8 mil), and Steelers/Bears in Week 2 (23.8 mil).
Not all of the news was good, however. Earlier in the day, regional coverage featuring Giants/Chiefs drew a 7.7 rating and 11.8 million viewers, down 3% in ratings and viewership from comparable coverage last year (7.9, 12.2 mil). This marks the first time all season that ratings or viewership have declined for an NFL telecast on FOX.
Additionally, Sunday’s early window ranks as the lowest rated, least viewed NFL telecast of the season on FOX, and the third-least viewed NFL telecast of the season on any network.
Through Week 4, FOX is averaging an 11.0 rating and 18 million viewers for NFL coverage, up 16% in ratings from a 9.5 through the same point last year.
