- Despite the presence of ESPN’s College Gameday, the October 24 TCU/BYU matchup was not much of a draw. The game drew a mere 0.2 U.S. rating (261,000 HHs) on Versus; by comparison, ESPN drew a 3.4 (3.9 million HHs) for Florida/Mississippi State and ESPN2 drew 1.2 (1.4 million HHs) for Auburn/LSU, both of which aired opposite the game. - The 5 regularly-scheduled games of the 2009 World Series averaged a 12.8 rating after 11 PM ET, 6% higher than the pre-11 PM average of 12.1. While that may seem on the surface to support the idea that later starts are better for ratings, consider this: last year’s post-11 PM average was 3% lower than the pre-11 PM average, and the post-11 PM average in ’07 was 8% lower. This year’s World Series had an average end time of 11:37 PM, nearly a half-hour earlier than the 12:03 AM average from the past two years. (TV By the Numbers)
