ABC will not be the only broadcast network to carry a high-profile soccer event this year.
FOX has announced that it will air the 2010 UEFA Champions League Final on May 22, the first live soccer telecast ever on the network.
The match, which will begin at 2:45 PM ET, was originally slated to air on FX. However, FOX had room on its schedule after moving its usual Saturday afternoon MLB telecast to primetime.
The UEFA Champions League Final will be the first soccer telecast on any broadcast network since the 2008 MLS Cup on ABC, and the first international soccer telecast since the Euro 2008 final (also on ABC).
This year is the first of a three-year deal between FOX and the UEFA Champions League.
