- The AVP volleyball tour is reportedly heading to ESPN. Sports Business Journal reported on Monday that the AVP was “close to finalizing” a time-buy agreement with ESPN, which would go into effect this season. Under the agreement, ABC would air 4 events, with ESPN2 carrying the remainder of the schedule. Last season, NBC aired 4 events, Versus aired 11 and Fox Sports Net aired one. - Versus will beef up its NHL coverage once the sport returns from its Olympic break. The network has added three games to its schedule during the week of March 1: Sharks/Devils on March 2 (10:30 PM), Capitals/Sabres on March 3 (7 PM), and Rangers/Penguins on March 4 (7 PM). In addition, Versus will debut a half-hour pregame show on March 2, which will air prior to every Tuesday night telecast for the rest of the season. (Puck The Media)
- ESPN360.com will be renamed ESPN3.com beginning April 4. As ESPN executive Sean Bratches noted in a press release, the new name “more closely aligns with the existing naming convention for” ESPN networks. ESPN also plans to “introduce new features and functionality” for the broadband network. (ESPN)
