John Wall is already helping NBA teams.
Sunday’s Celtics/Cavaliers matchup drew a 3.0 overnight rating on ABC, up 30% from Mavericks/Lakers last year (2.3), and up 3% from Lakers/Rockets in ’08 (2.9).
The 3.0 overnight is the highest for an NBA game on ABC since Lakers/Celtics in January (4.4).
Sunday’s game was boosted in part by a lead-in from the Mississippi St./Kentucky SEC Championship Game, which drew a 2.7 overnight rating.
Impressively, Celtics/Cavaliers drew a higher overnight than every college basketball game on broadcast over the weekend.
