Rain certainly did not help the fortunes of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Final round coverage of the Arnold Palmer Invitational drew a 1.6 overnight rating on NBC Sunday, down a whopping 68% from last year (4.9), and down 62% from 2008 (4.2). Tiger Woods won the event in both years.
Keep in mind that Sunday’s final round was suspended due to rain, with the tournament concluding on Monday.
The 1.6 overnight is the lowest for final round coverage of the Arnold Palmer Invitational since at least 1999.
For perspective, final round coverage drew a 5.7 overnight rating as recently as 2002.
Saturday’s third round action drew a 1.5 overnight, down 44% from last year (2.7), and down 34% from 2008 (2.3).
