Overshadowed by The Masters on CBS, the 2010 season debut of Major League Baseball on FOX drew less-than-stellar ratings.
Regional MLB action featuring Yankees/Rays drew a 1.6 final rating on FOX last Saturday, down 16% from coverage featuring Red Sox/Angels last year (1.9), and down 27% from coverage featuring Mets/Braves in ’08 (2.2).
This marks the lowest rated MLB on FOX season opener since FOX moved the start of its baseball coverage from late May to early April.
Compared to other sporting events last weekend, Saturday’s baseball action on FOX trailed Trail Blazers/Lakers on ABC Sunday (1.7), but topped Magic/Cavaliers (1.4).
