Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets will be the darlings of Monday night during the 2010-11 NFL season.
As usual, ESPN will air 17 Monday Night Football games during the 2010 season. The network’s now-traditional Week 1 doubleheader will feature the Jets hosting the Ravens at 7 PM ET, followed by the Chargers traveling to Kansas City to face the Chiefs at 10:15 PM.
This is the first time a team outside of the Pacific Time Zone has hosted the second half of the Monday night doubleheader.
The following week, the defending champion Saints make their first of two appearances on ESPN when they face the 49ers in San Francisco.
Among the notable Monday night games, the Vikings take on the Jets in a game that could pit Brett Favre against one of his former teams (Week 5, October 11), the Cowboys host the Giants in a matchup that typically draws strong ratings (Week 7, October 25), and the Eagles take on former franchise QB Donovan McNabb and Washington (Week 10, November 15).
The Jets lead the way with three appearances on Monday Night Football, followed by several teams with two appearances — including the aforementioned Saints and the Ravens, Texans, Patriots, Bears, Vikings, Chargers and 49ers.
