The 2010-11 NFL season will open with a rematch of the most-viewed Conference Championship game in 28 years.
The Super Bowl champion Saints will host the Vikings in the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, September 9, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell revealed on Tuesday.
The game will mark the first meeting between the Vikings and Saints since January’s NFC Championship Game, won by the Saints in overtime. The Saints’ win drew a 30.6/45 final rating and 57.9 million viewers, the highest rated non-Super Bowl NFL telecast since ’96, and the most-viewed since ’82.
The entire 2010-11 NFL schedule will be released on Tuesday night.
