After a week off, the NHL on NBC returned with an increase in overnight ratings.
Sunday’s Red Wings/Flyers game drew a 1.0 overnight rating on NBC, up 11% from Wild/Red Wings on the comparable date last year (0.9) and up 25% from Blackhawks/Red Wings in ’08 (0.8).
Compared to Rangers/Bruins on March 21, Sunday’s telecast was up 43% from a 0.7 overnight.
This is the third straight NHL telecast on NBC to draw a 1.0 overnight rating or lower, all coming after the Olympic break. For perspective, five of the first six NHL telecasts on NBC drew at least a 1.2.
