Viewership declined for the NBA on ESPN, but the network still had its second-most viewed NBA season ever.
NBA games averaged a 1.1 U.S. rating and 1.6 million viewers on ESPN during the 2009-10 season, even in ratings and down 7% in viewership from last year (1.1, 1.7 mil), and even and up 6%, respectively, compared to 2007-08 (1.1, 1.5 mil).
This marks the second most-viewed NBA season ever on ESPN, behind only last year.
For perspective, ESPN averaged 1.6 million viewers for MLB regular season games in 2009, and 1.4 million for college basketball games during the 2009-10 season.
